Eckel & Vaughan welcomes Deborah Johnson to growing team
RALEIGH, NC—February 3, 2017: Eckel & Vaughan is pleased to announce that Deborah Johnson joins the agency’s team this week.
In addition to a strong communications background, Johnson brings extensive experience in organizational leadership, economic development, and issues management to Eckel & Vaughan. Johnson’s addition strengthens the agency’s capabilities and expands its expertise across multiple industries, especially within agribusiness and the public sector.
“Deborah’s deep-seated leadership in handling complex communications challenges at federal, state, and local levels, coupled with her experience in managing professional organizations, makes her a perfect fit,” said Eckel & Vaughan partner Albert Eckel.
In her new role, Deborah will be of counsel to Eckel & Vaughan, helping to grow the agency’s new business portfolio and expand its service offerings across the company’s footprint.
“I’ve had the pleasure of working with Eckel & Vaughan for several years as a client, and have seen their passion, professionalism and creativity at work. Joining the team was an opportunity I simply could not pass up,” said Deborah Johnson. “I look forward to this next chapter in my career, working alongside a talented team to forge strong partnerships, deepen relationships, and grow the agency’s footprint across and beyond North Carolina.”
Deborah comes to Eckel & Vaughan following her departure from the NC Pork Council, where she served as chief executive officer for 11 years. During her tenure, she championed rural economic development issues, advocated tirelessly on behalf of the industry and family farmers, and worked to fight hunger in North Carolina.
Prior to joining the NC Pork Council, Deborah held leadership and advisory positions for Prestage Farms, Premium Standard Farms, Cape Fear Farm Credit and the North Carolina Ports Authority. Deborah has a long history of public service, and has played a role on several national, state, and local boards and commissions. She continues to serve in multiple capacities, including as a director of the NC Agricultural Foundation and as part of the NC Cooperative Extension’s State Advisory Council.
“One of the highest compliments a service firm can receive is when a long-term client decides to join your team. It’s a testament to our work ethic and culture. We couldn’t be happier to welcome Deborah,” said Eckel & Vaughan partner Harris Vaughan.
